Router bit set evaluation June 27, 2010 anastasios andrianos Very good and reliable solution for a beginer who needs also an affordable set of royter bits to start experiencing. Very fast delivery.
Reasonable for the price, good beginner set April 30, 2010 N. Porter None of the bits I have used so far had nicks in the blades.
Can't see any on the other bits yet either (trust me, I checked them when I got the set based on the reviews).
I'm not sure they're going to last too long either based on what I'm seeing from limited use, but for a relative beginner like me these offer a good starting point set. Presumably I'll find myself using specific bits more over time and expect to invest in better quality ones as I identify them.
The case is useful for keeping them all together or transporting for a 'home' user, but definitely won't stand up to much/any abuse in a commercial environment.
Great Buy February 22, 2010 R. Jaspal (WV USA) This a great buy, 80 pieces of fine tungsten carbide bit with 1/2 inch shank. I have been using them since I have received. I am very happy with the product. RJ
80-PIECE ROUTER BIT SET February 5, 2010 Winston F. Chew (SAN JOSE , CA,USA) EXCELLENT VALUE !!!!!!!! I WAS VERY IMPRESSED BY MY PURCHASE OF THIS ITEM . THE SET IS TOP DRAWER . THE SELECTION OF TYPE AND SCOPE OF THE BITS WAS QUITE LARGE . THE CASE IS WELL MADE SO AS TO PROTECT AND PROVIDE ORDER FOR THE BITS . NO WHERE ELSE COULD I FIND SUCH A REAL VALUE ITEM FOR WOODWORKERS . I WOULD GIVE THIS SET A GREAT BIG FIVE STARS !!!!!!!!!!!!! WINSTON : ) <><
Cheap, in both good and bad ways January 11, 2010 G. Book (Hartford, CT USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This set is a pretty nice set and is very complete for $100. At around $1.25 per bit, its a pretty good deal and includes every conceivable router bit, except exotic ones like raised panel or box joint. But for general use, this does contain every bit you might want.
The value for the quantity of bits is excellent, however I'm only giving it 3 stars for a few reasons: The machining of the bits is not very good. For example after using the 3 flute straight bit in just a few feet of plywood, I noticed burn marks on the plywood and some gunk on 2 of the 3 flutes. With gunk on only 2 of the 3 blades, it implies only 2 of the 3 blades are actually cutting, and the machining of the carbide was incorrect. Another reason for 3 stars is the case. It does a good job of holding all the bits in a single place, but its made of foam and thin aluminum. The bits can knock against each other, they're actually pretty difficult to get out of the foam at the angle they were placed, and some of the bits are so long they rub against the case.
In general the product is of poor quality, however if the bits really are used only occasionally (I mean very infrequently), it can be a good deal. Don't be tempted to think these bits will produce any high quality cuts, or that you will be able to use them for anything more regular than every few months.
